Camille makes one-of-a-kind pieces in a studio so small you can’t step back. That was the whole problem: how do you photograph work that needs distance, in a room that offers none?
What we were after
Images for her website, her online shop, and two trade fairs. Three very different uses, so three framings: the product alone on a neutral background, the product in context, and Camille at work.
How we did it
We worked in late morning, when the studio’s only window gives raking light. I shot at 35mm to fit in the room, and we carried the finished pieces out into the courtyard for the product shots.
Two days, about a hundred images kept, and one lesson: in a cramped space, it’s the hour that makes the photo, not the lens.
